Latasha works as a security guard in the Richmond area and has two teenage children. She is currently looking for more affordable housing because her landlord has begun raising her rent. She fears she will soon no longer be able to afford her housing with her current salary. She is trying to keep it from falling behind while she looks for new housing so that her credit is not negatively impacted, which will make her search even more difficult.

Tyleesha is a single mom. She and her 4 year old daughter are new to the Richmond area and have been trying to get there footing since arriving here. Tyleesha was recently laid off of her job and has been doing odd jobs to make ends meet while she works on her goal of starting her own business.

Ceelean has been staying at CARITAS Women's Emergency Shelter for the past three weeks. During this time she's been busy working two jobs and trying to move back into housing. One of her primary goals is to get a vehicle that will allow her to get between jobs more quickly as one of her jobs is contracted and often changes locations around Richmond. Ceelean is required to take an online driver education course before she's able to move forward with getting her driver's license. Your assistance will allow her to pay for and take this course and remove that barrier to reliable transportation.

Nicole is a single mom of two. She works part time and has fallen behind on a few bills since her hours being cut. She is working to find more stable income but needs help paying down her electricity bill in the process.

Sally has been staying at CARITAS Emergency Shelter for the past two months while working on saving and locating housing. She's made a lot of progress while in this program and she has finally been approved and is preparing to move out of shelter and into a place of her own. We would like to provide her with an exit package containing some of the things she'll need for her new place. The exit package will include: a laundry basket, an air mattress, sheets, a blanket, a pillow, a towel and wash cloth, and a hygiene kit (containing feminine products, toothbrush, toothpaste etc.). Your support will help her refocus her savings on her move in costs and expenses that come with this transition.

Craig has been at the Emergency Men’s shelter for a little more than a week. He needs support in purchasing eye glasses in order to aid him in finding employment. Craig unfortunately has already accessed his medical support for obtaining eye wear.

Katrina is a single mother and is doing her best to provide for her family on a fixed income. Her job recently cut her hours to 20 hours a week putting a strain on her budget. She has applied for fuel assistance with Social Services but has been running into red tape. She needs assistance this month's bill in order to keep her electricity on while she navigates these barriers.

Robert is a new father in the Peter Paul young adult employment program. He is a long term Church Hill resident and is raising his first child in this community. He substitute teaches for RPS as his sole form of income. He is doing odd jobs to continue to get by while school's out for the summer, but could use some help in paying his rent for this month to keep things afloat.

Zabra has been staying at the CARITAS Women's Emergency Shelter for a week now. She relies heavily on her phone for doctor's appointments, family, and working towards housing options. Her phone bill is set to be cut off at the end of the month, as she's been unable to pay it. Your assistance will help her keep her phone on and maintain contact with important supporters in her life.

YaYa has been staying at CARITAS' Women's Emergency Shelter for the past two weeks. She is working diligently on finding employment and paying off past due bills so that she can work towards getting back into housing. YaYa has an electric arrear that will serve as a barrier for her being able to get another apartment. Your assistance will allow her to pay off this arrear and move into housing.

Sarah has been staying at CARITAS' Women's Emergency Shelter since the beginning of June. While being here, she's been working as much as possible in order to pay her bills and save for move in fees for housing. Sarah is struggling because her job is on the bus line, but she often doesn't get off of work in time to catch the bus when she gets off. This means she's often walking over an hour to get back to shelter. Sarah also has appointments that take her several hours to get to by bus and end up taking the whole day. Your assistance would provide her with an Uber gift card to get to and from work and appointments when she's unable to take the bus.

Adam has been staying at CARITAS Men's Emergency Shelter since the beginning of May. While here, he's started to apply for housing. Adam has been very driven and focused on his goals and moving forward. Adam recently got approved for a housing voucher! Adam would be able to apply for housing and ending his cycle of homelessness.

Tim has hit the ground running since entering the CARITAS men's shelter by working with staff and interns on updating his resume, as well as applying for jobs. His hard work recently paid off in the form of a job offer with a local company! Tim has most of what he needs to begin working, however he needs the proper attire for work. This will put Tim one step closer toward securing housing!

Ricky has been staying in our emergency shelter for under a month and has hit the ground running by looking for employment and stable housing. He is very eager to get back to work! Obtaining a bicycle would also mean sustainability, in being able to maintain transportation to and from employment.

Sean was unable to pay his DMV fees due to losing his employment, and has recently come to the CARITAS men's shelter seeking support. Sean is fully able and willing to work and save income, but is in need of transportation to support him in finding and maintaining employment. Supporting Sean with DMV fees would help Sean in overcoming his biggest barrier to stability – transportation.

Single mother and survivor, Chelsea is living in a shelter with her kids after leaving an abusive situation. Unfortunately, in fleeing, she was unable to find and bring her children's documents (birth certificates). She needs support securing these important documents so her children can register for school.

Cora is a survivor of domestic violence and a mother to four beautiful children. Cora is working towards receiving a medical coding certificate but, due to financial barriers, cannot pay for the fees. Cora is the sole provider for her children; this assistance would help Cora overcome this barrier and obtain her certificate and continue to take steps forward.

Patty is a survivor of domestic violence whose home caught on fire. Patty and her family were left with nothing due to the fire. Fortunately, Patty was able to secure a voucher and a new home for herself and her family. While setting up services for their new home, Patty discovered that an unpaid electric bill needed to be paid before setting up services. This assistance would help Patty and her family overcome this barrier and move into their safe new home.

Liam is currently receiving Mental Health Skill-Building services with St. Joseph’s Villa. He just obtained employment at a local restaurant, and while Villa staff are supporting him with budget planning, he will not have enough money to cover his rental expenses this month. Liam remains focused and committed to maintaining his independence and his self-sufficiency. He would be grateful for financial assistance with his rent to avoid eviction.
