Her husband fled following multiple domestic violence charges, leaving Elena and her 7-year-old daughter to fend for themselves. Elena’s resourcefulness and self-advocacy enabled her to secure safe housing. However, she had to quit one of her jobs when her daughter started the 2nd grade, and, as a result, she fell behind in her September rent. This setback did not deter her, and she was able to find a housemate to help lower her housing costs starting in October. This support will help her cover September rent and allow Elena and her daughter to continue living in a safe and secure home.
