Ms. Duke received Car Battery

Partner: Caritas

Advisor: Donnell Wright

Ms. Duke is currently facing immense hardship while residing in a shelter, feeling trapped in a frustrating cycle where she "cannot catch a break." Her attempts to find stability have been undermined as she's been promised support only to fall through the cracks, an experience that is both disheartening and exhausting. Despite being in retirement, she must work the mandated maximum of 32 hours a week to maintain her shelter obligations, and her entire path forward hinges on one immediate need: a new car battery. This battery is the critical first step that allows her to operate her vehicle, meet her work requirements, and begin earning the income needed to cover the cost of her essential medication. Ms. Duke is determined to regain control of her life and urgently needs the community's support to overcome this financial barrier and move toward the security she deserves.

Her immediate, most urgent goal is to repair her vehicle, which is her lifeline and her only path to drive back home and regain her independence. Helping Ms. Gloria with these essential costs is more than fixing a car; it's providing a dignified, tangible way for a truly resilient senior to rewrite her current story and return to a life of safety and security.
