In our Human Trafficking Shelter, two residents, Miranda and Elena, have the opportunity to participate in a six-week therapeutic art group designed to help individuals process grief through hands-on creative work. She is not one to be deterred and is doing everything she can to help herself get back on her feet. Her phone has been disconnected, and she has not gotten her first paycheck. Janine reached out to Safe Harbor in early February for assistance with housing and regaining custody of her 2 children. The judge initially granted custody to Janine's ex/abuser and claimed she did not have enough room for her kids because she was living in her mother's basement . While the custody agreement has since been resolved, Janine is still worried about having safe and affordable housing for her family.
