Help with Groceries and Household Essentials. Sequise is a participant in the OCWB Workforce Program at the East End Career Station. She has a daughter in the 11th grade, which she helps daily with her online schooling. Sequise lost her job due to COVID 19 and has had difficulties finding another one. She has been working diligently, applying for jobs, and is looking to start training next month to diversify her skills to get aligned with new potential job opportunities. Sequise needs food and other household supplies to support her and her daughter until she can find employment. They are Special Immigrant Visa holders, meaning Amir is being offered safety and a new life in the U.S. for his services and dedication to the U.S. and our allies in Afghanistan. When U.S. troops left, those Afghan citizens who provided interpretation, security, and other services to the U.S. were targeted by the Taliban. Like all refugees, Amir and his family have an immense number of appointments upon arrival. They cannot travel to these appointments until they have a safety car seat for their toddler. Keiondra has an opportunity to move her family into more stable housing but has been confronted with an old utility bill that was left over from a previous address that she was no longer aware existed. The IRC in Richmond Employment team found Yolanda's aunt and uncle jobs quickly, and things are going well. Yolanda will also get a job after the baby is born, but for now, the expense of all that is needed to add a newborn to the household feels overwhelming.
