While unemployed, Tyrell exhausted his savings and is concerned that he will not have enough food to provide for his family until he receives his first paycheck next month. Help with Gas. Ronald has taken a step in the right direction to get the training he to gain employment. Since working, he has signed up for OSHA/Forklift training through 5C's and is now in the process of getting enrolled in a Construction Training program. Ronald has transportation, however without employment he cannot afford the cost of fuel. Assisting him with fuel for transportation will allow him to continue with his training.

Help with Rent. Ray is determined to rebuild and invest in his life after serving time. He immediately enrolled with OCWB, obtained his CDL license, was hired the day of graduation. Ray has been laid off temporarily and is concerned that he will not be able to pay his rent during the month of May. After being away so long, Ray’s only goal is to have the means to provide for his family.

Ruth has been without heat for several weeks. At this time, she cannot afford to purchase oil. Having heat will give her the ability to move around her apartment to help reduce the pain from her arthritis. This type of assistance will help keep Ruth warm in her apartment, preventing the onset of pain and stiffness in her joints.

Help with Car Insurance. Imani has not been able to work since last year because of medical conditions. Since being unemployed, she has fallen behind on her car insurance payments. Imani has been approved for disability and will be able to maintain the payments going forward. She needs assistance with her fees until she receives her first SSI payment.

Elizabeth is enrolled in a class for medical coding and billing certification and is actively looking for employment in the healthcare field. This type of assistance will prevent Elizabeth's water from being disconnected in her home where she is the primary caregiver for her grandson who is a toddler.

Help with Gas. Willie has been looking for employment for several months and is happy to announce that he has secured a job making 35.00 an hour. He needs to report to work Monday, April 8th in Ohio. Willie will need assistance with the cost of transportation as he driving. This type of help will ensure that he is off to a great start.

Help with Car insurance. Stacy has been out of work for several months due to health reasons. Currently, she is in school for Medical Coding and Billing so that she is able to work part-time. Stacy needs help paying her car insurance while she is in a training program, does her medical coding externship and sits for her national certification exam until the end of May. This type of assistance will help keep Stacy's car insurance intact while she is using her vehicle to commute between school and her field placement.

Help with Gas Card. Yolanda is a Clinical Trial Associate who is unemployed currently. She will enroll in a Project Management Test Preparation Course to sit for her Project Management Certification Exam. Yolanda needs help paying for gas to get back and forth to class until she completes her training at the end of June.

Help with Construction Tools. Kelvin has been working in the construction industry for many years. Last December, someone broke into his work locker and stole his tools. Since then, Kelvin has completed that particular construction project and has been offered several other positions, but cannot accept those offers because he does not have any work tools; Kelvin is unable to afford them at this time. This type of assistance will help Kelvin secure employment in his field once again.

Help with Electric Bill. Shannon is a single mother to two young girls. She moved into her new apartment with her daughters and fell behind on her bills during this period of transition. Shannon has been able to catch up on other expenses but has a balance of $800 with Dominion Energy. She has been working diligently on keeping up with payment arrangements but could use help reconciling the past due balance of $425 on her account. This type of assistance will allow Shannon to pay other bills.

Help with Vehicle Repair. Darryl is in the process of searching for a job. However, his vehicle needs repair, he needs the thermostat and gasket replaced. which is impacting his ability to look for jobs with a higher wage and attend interviews located outside of city bus routes. This type of assistance will help Darryl increase his chances of securing employment with a livable wage. The total balance of the car repair is 742. Darryl will receive help from family and friends to reconcile the remaining car repair balance.

Help with Business Attire. James was also a former participant in the Workforce Program who needs help purchasing business suits for work. James’ journey toward progress has been so inspirational to many of his peers. He started as a volunteer with the city and eventually was hired as an Ambassador to engage the community around issues of employment and poverty. This type of assistance will help James with his presentation as he is invited to public speaking engagements around Richmond to represent his office in the upcoming weeks.

Help with DMV Fines. Timothy is a military veteran needs help paying for fines to get his driver’s reinstated. His driver's license was taken after purchasing a car from a previous owner-the car turned out to be a lemon. Upon return of the car, the previous owner agreed to return the car's title and license plates to DMV—but failed to do so. While driving the company car one day, Mr. Barge was stopped by a police and realized his license been suspended due to un-returned license plates. As a result, Timothy lost his job. This type of assistance will help Timothy get his license reinstated and restore his mobility so he can increase his income by applying for better paying jobs.

Help with Water Bill. Antwanette needs help to prevent her water from being disconnected. Although she found employment, she fell behind on her utility bill because she was out of work for 8 weeks. Antwanette lost her job because she had to assume responsibility for her brother and sisters. She had to go into foster care and wanted to prevent them from going into the system. Her father is incarcerated and her mother faces barriers that prevents her from being present for Antwanette and her younger siblings. This type of assistance will help alleviate stress associated with being the primary caregiver in her family. Antwanette will enroll in the CNA training program in June to become a Certified Nursing Aide in the near future.

Help with Gas Card. Heywood needs help paying for gas as he attends an 8-10 week CDL training class at the Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA). Currently, Heywood is seeking employment after being laid off from his previous employer last month. This type of assistance will help Heywood as he pursues his career goal to become a CDL Truck Driver.

Help with Driver's License Reinstatement. Laverne's license was suspended as a result of unpaid parking tickets. She needs adequate transportation to travel back and forth to work as her job is not on the bus line. This type of assistance means that Laverne will be able to get her driver's license restored, travel to work and maintain her employment.

Help with Work Equipment. Recently, Rickey has completed CDL training and secured full-time employment. The participant is paying bills and rent but, his job requires each driver to have their own Citizen’s Band (CB) Radio as he travels for work. This type of assistance will help Rickey maintaining his current employment.

Help with Rent. Lee was working a construction job that ended recently and has fallen behind on paying his rent. He is enrolled in a class to receive his CDL Training through a Workforce program that will last for six weeks. Lee has received help from his family but has a remaining balance of $170.00 that will satisfy his account through April. In April, Lee will qualify for employment as he would have completed his training. This type of assistance will prevent Lee and his family from getting evicted.
