Help with Car Insurance. Nejshan is a single mother and Certified Nursing Aide and Personal Companion Aide who values being to pay her bills on time. However, she lost her job in December of 2018 as a result of having issues with her transportation. Nejshan was able to pay her bills through January with her last paycheck but has an outstanding balance for her car insurance. She will need help paying her past due balance and the amount for the upcoming month. Nejshan’s total need is $229. It is very critical that she is able to make this payment on time since she has had several interviews in the past few weeks and cannot jeopardize her ability to operate her vehicle. Many of the jobs for which she is applying is not on the bus line. Nejshan anticipates being able to secure employment within the next few weeks; participants with her skill set and certifications are in high demand! This type of assistance will ensure Nejshan can make it to her interviews.

Groceries. Shelia just landed employment after months of searching for job. She is requesting support with food so she can have lunch and dinner daily until she receives her 1st pay check; at this time Sheila only has enough food for 3 more days.

Help with Gas. Karlla will begin her Pharmacy Technician classes soon and will need assistance with gas to attend her program at the Richmond Technical Center. Karlla is working currently, but needs help paying for gas since her mileage has increased since attending school; Karlla also drives to work her child care provider. This type of assistance will help her until she completes her Pharmacy Technician certification program.

Steel Toe Work Boots Needed. Currently, Bruce is in training to get his CDL certification. He needs assistance with purchasing steel toe work boots to be dress code compliant for employment.

Rent Assistance. Diane is unemployed and is in urgent need of help with paying this month's rent. She owed $900 but with the help of her friends and family, she was able to reconcile most of her balance, except $250. Diane is enrolled is enrolled in two workforce program to receive extra support during the job search process. Diane is hopeful about securing employment as she has landed several interviews over the past few weeks.

Gas Card. Crystal will begin cosmetology classes at the Richmond Technical Center very soon and will need help paying for gas as she travels to and from school. Although Crystal works full time, she will need this type of assistance until her cosmetology training is complete.

Laptop Computer. Iris is a single mom who has been approved to attend school to obtain her high school diploma. She will be completing some of her homework in school, at the library and at different career stations in the city. Iris also would like to have the option of doing her work at home as she has small children. Having a home computer would allow Iris to be home with her children as she is working toward completing her high school studies.

Electricity Bill. Barbara is in the process of searching for employment and is enrolled in a training program to finish her high school studies. She is finding it challenging to pay her electricity bill in full; Barbara carries a month balance of 127 with the threat of getting her power disconnected. Receiving this type of assistance will help to alleviate some financial stress while she is searching for employment and completes her last math class.

Gas Card. Antonio has been unemployed for over 10 years. He is enrolled in a workforce development program where he received career coaching, interviewing and resume assistance. Antonio landed an interview and was able to secure employment. He needs assistance with paying for gas to get to work until he receives his first paycheck.

Gas Card. Hattie is a participant in a small business training program that takes place at different locations around the City. She lives on a fixed income and does not have the resources to continue attending training that occurs twice a week. This type of assistance will help Hattie to continue attending classes until the end of the program.

Gas Card. India will begin her Nail Technician classes soon and will need assistance paying for gas to get to and from training at the Richmond Technical Center. She is unemployed until she receives her nail tech license, qualifying to work in a salon or shop. India is an active participant in the programs at the City of Richmond's career stations, conducting job searches. This type of assistance will help India move closer to achieving her dream of becoming a Nail Technician.

Rent Security Deposit. Tisha has been approved for the section 8 housing voucher program; her security deposit is $450. At this time her family has raised $210 toward the total balance. Tisha needs assistance with reconciling the remaining balance of $240. In the last 6 months, Tisha has experienced several accomplishments; she has received her high school diploma and has qualified to move into her own apartment. This type of assistance will help her continue on the path toward self-sufficiency.

Ariel plans to attend North Carolina A&T University in the Fall to study biology. Ariel is in need of a laptop to support her during her post-secondary studies. Owning her own laptop will make it possible for her to concentrate on her studies.

Receiving this amount of $250 in assistance will help Cora qualify for a payment plan as she continues on the path to self-sufficiency.

Utility Bill Assistance. Karen is enrolled in a Title V training program that assists seniors with finding employment. Karen is actively interviewing with different employers to receive job placement. She needs assistance catching up on a utility bill until she receives her work assignment and her first paycheck. This type of assistance will help Karen continue on the path toward self-sufficiency.

Queen Mattress. Antwan is a single dad raising his two girls after their mother passed away suddenly a couple of years ago. He is sleeping on a worn full-sized mattress that does not not support him, contributing to a lot of sleepless nights. This type of assistance partially covers the total estimate for a queen mattress of $400. Securing a queen mattress would help Antwan get adequate sleep and ease his long-term issues of backs/pain problems, making him better prepared for successful days.

Recently, Cheryl was promoted from part-time to full-time at one of her jobs and is working on a payment plan for the water bill.
