Her computer crashed, and she cannot purchase another one because she has not been working due to COVID-19. This would be a great help to Tianda as she is completing her studies.

With classes upended due to COVID-19, Maria needs help getting a laptop so that she can complete her classes online and begin her college career successfully.

Help with Electricity Bill. A single mother of two, Uvonya was out of work for several months due to COVID-19. Without reliable income, she found it difficult to pay her regular bills -- not to mention the new expense of childcare when she left to search for work and attend interviews. Thankfully, Uvonya has secured employment as a Forklift Operator, but needs help reconciling a few of her accounts. She is requesting assistance with a portion of her electricity bill.

Help with Electricity Bill. Emilia works in an emergency room in the city of Richmond. Her hours were cut due to the COVID-19. She also was admitted into the hospital with an illness a few weeks ago. This has caused Emilia to miss time from work. She does not have paid-time-off and has experienced a loss of income recently; Emilia finds it challenging to pay all her bills. She has no immediate family that can support her. Emilia is requesting assistance with her electricity bill

She has no computer or technology experience, but understands the importance of working on these skills, especially in the increasingly virtual environment we are navigating. Mary has signed up to attend an introductory computer class that begins at the end of September, but needs help purchasing a laptop.

Wanda is waiting for a class to improve her computer skills that begin at the end of October at Dream Academy. She is asking for support with a lab top to practice and be prepared for class at the end of the month.

Help with Laptop. Eric will begin CDL school at the Community College; however, he did not realize the 1st session is online due to COVID 19.before class on October 3, 2020. Eric must have a working computer that is WIFI accessible. At this time, he has reached out to everyone he knows for support. Eric is asking if a Giving Wall supporter would help him with obtaining a lab-top as he has been approved to begin his CDL Training classes very soon.

Help with Laptop. Curtis is a single father of eight-year-old twins in the third grade. He is employed with a local government agency and is working on his literacy skills. Curtis is planning to begin a learning program to improve his reading and writing skills so he can become more competitive in the job market--and assist his girls with their school work.

She is taking classes toward a Human Services degree with the expectation of a starting a new career in that field. But Karen’s laptop is not functioning, and she needs a computer in order to take classes at home.

Help with Groceries. Tashanda is a single mom of one, but she also cares for her two small grandchildren. She lost her job as a production assembler when COVID-19 emerged last March. Tashanda began taking cosmetology classes at the Richmond Technical Center to start a new career, but classes have been canceled because of the social distancing requirement. Now Tashanda needs support with groceries as her three children will be home all day attending school virtually.

Help with College School Supplies . Mateo has been enrolled in the Office of Community Wealth Building Mayor’s Youth Academy for the last two years. He will be starting as a college freshman this fall, with plans to major in neuroscience. Mateo is requesting help with school supplies for his first semester in college.

Help with Utility Bills. Destiny is a single mother doing her best to raise five children while in and out of the hospital for mental health. Hospitalizations and trouble finding a reliable babysitter to care for her children have made it difficult for her to maintain a steady income. Her youngest is about a year old. Destiny urgently needs help with her utility bills as she receives in-home counseling and stabilization services from St. Joseph’s Villa.

Help with Utilities. Shamari is enrolled in the Workforce Program at the Office of Community Wealth Building. She also has been taking classes at the Richmond Technical School. As a result of mandatory social distancing, her classes were canceled for the spring semester. A single mother, Shamari is having difficulty managing her household bills since she has to stay home with her children. She is requesting assistance with her gas bill until she can secure employment.

Help with Laptop. Montaziya is a participant in the Training and Workforce Program at the Office of Community Wealth Building. She was employed as a Medical Technician at the City Jail, but lost her job when a new provider opted to replace her with a Licensed Practical Nurse. But Montaziya bounced back with a plan. She's enrolled in a Certified Medical Assistant Program, excited about the opportunity to work toward a certification and employment. Due to COVID-19, her classes will be held partly online, and Montaziya has an urgent need for a laptop so she can navigate the virtual portion of the program.

Help with Groceries. Keith is a talented sous chef who lost his job due to COVID-19. His last paycheck was at the beginning of July, and Keith stretched to make ends meet, expecting to return to work in August. Recently, he was notified he would not be returning until the beginning of October. He has applied for benefits and is waiting for a decision, while looking for other employment opportunities. But in the meantime, Keith has an urgent need to pay for food until he can receive help from other sources or return to work in a few weeks.

Help with Rent. Samantha is a single mom of two who is not working. She had to resign from her last position because she had no one to care for her two children while they stayed at home from school during this most recent time of social distancing. Samantha has a court date on Monday, August 31st and must work towards having her past due balance reconciled to prevent eviction.

Her mom is currently unemployed, and has a heart condition that prevents her from going back to work. Although Imani's family is receiving some outside assistance, it is not enough to meet the food needs of her family of 3 over the next month.

Kyrah is a grad student who came to Virginia to pursue her education. She is young and independent and receives little to no assistance from her parents who reside in a different state. She has been out of work for a while but just recently secured a job and just needs some assistance this month to cover her car insurance so that she can continue to keep her car on the road.

Help with Electricity Bill. Lorena is a retired senior citizen on a fixed income who has a significant balance for her electricity bill. She has not been able to pay down her balance because she used her money to pay for two very important eye surgeries over the past few months. Lorena has spoken with customer service and has been assured that her lights will remain on as long as she can pay something towards her electricity bill. She also will be getting help from friends, family and her local church body. Lorena is looking forward to this bill being reconciled.
