Keon Lomax is a young adult who recently went from being employed full time to part-time within the last month. Keon has worked really hard over the years to successfully achieve one of his goals of serving in his community. Keon completed culinary school and has been excited to begin his career as a Nutrition Coordinator right away. During this tough transition phase Keon has experienced challenges with keeping up with repairs on his vehicle and decided to reach out for support. Having access to safe reliable transportation would assist Keon in continuing to be of service to his community.

Mike was unable to pay his DMV fees due to losing his employment, and has recently come to the CARITAS men's shelter seeking support. Mike is fully able and willing to work and save income, but is in need of transportation to support him in finding and maintaining employment. Supporting Sean with DMV fees would help Sean in overcoming his biggest barrier to stability – transportation.

Martha recently came to stay at CARITAS Women's Emergency Shelter. She is working on part time employment to supplement her income and has decided to work on getting her LPN reinstated. In order to start this process, she has to take a certain number of Continuing Education courses. Your assistance will allow her to enroll in and start these courses.

Talia is the single mother of four young children. Her family recently exited homelessness and moved into public housing. However, the apartment did not come with air conditioning. Talia does not yet have the income to purchase her own air conditioning units. She would greatly appreciate help with purchasing two air conditioning units for her and her children.

Joseph experienced homelessness when he lost his job and could no longer afford his rent. He picked up side jobs such as dog walking to save money, and moved into a new apartment with assistance from Flagler Housing & Homeless Services at St. Joseph’s Villa. He recently found a new job and is waiting to be put on the schedule, but needs non-slip shoes and black shirts/pants. Joseph is eager to get back to work so he can remain in his apartment. He would greatly appreciate assistance with work clothes.

Evelyn lives in a household of 6 people including a newborn. Her family experienced homelessness during her entire pregnancy, and she was approved for housing just before her baby boy was born. She had a smooth move-in and was even gifted a washing machine from her landlord. Evelyn would also benefit from receiving a dryer, so that she can wash and dry her four children’s clothes in a timely manner.

Trisha and Cedric are a young couple with a 3-year-old boy, and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new baby girl. Trisha is 8 months pregnant, and was fortunate to find housing just in time for her due date after her family had experienced homelessness. However, their new apartment is completely unfurnished. To help alleviate the added stress of affording new furniture and welcoming a baby, assistance with a crib would mean a great deal to Trisha and Cedric.

Henry struggles with paranoid schizophrenia, which prevents him from leaving his home regularly to complete daily living activities. He recently obtained a new residence, but without a central air system his home can reach over 100 degrees. Henry would greatly appreciate assistance with a window unit air conditioner to help with the extreme temperatures in his home, where he is currently receiving mental health support from St. Joseph’s Villa.

After finding permanent supportive housing through Flagler Housing & Homeless Services at St. Joseph’s Villa, Chaya became the proud owner of a dog. Chaya struggles with mental health, and her new companion has been a terrific support in helping her manage feelings of anxiety and depression, as well as enjoy outdoor exercise. She would be grateful for financial assistance for her dog’s licensing documents and initial veterinary expenses.

Inaya is a single mother who recently exited homelessness, and is doing her best to remain self-sufficient and provide for her son. She was recently denied a childcare subsidy to allow her son to go to daycare while she works, resulting in her losing her job. Inaya is now searching for work-from-home jobs so she can care for her son while earning income. She would be grateful for assistance with a laptop, which would open her to more remote work opportunities, and allow her to complete online applications and trainings.

Your assistance will allow her to secure transportation to and from work while she waits to get her first paycheck, and will allow her to focus on saving any income she can for housing.

She working to try and catch it up before it lapses and she no longer is able to legally operate her vehicle. Having access to her vehicle is crucial to her ability to get her children back and forth to childcare so that she can work.

Bryce is a single father of two elementary aged children. He has sole custody of them because their mother is incarcerated. He recently lost his job and has been diligently looking for work. He has reached out to several organizations including Peter Paul for help to pay his rent in an effort to keep a roof over their heads while he searches.

Latasha works as a security guard in the Richmond area and has two teenage children. She is currently looking for more affordable housing because her landlord has begun raising her rent. She fears she will soon no longer be able to afford her housing with her current salary. She is trying to keep it from falling behind while she looks for new housing so that her credit is not negatively impacted, which will make her search even more difficult.

Tyleesha is a single mom. She and her 4 year old daughter are new to the Richmond area and have been trying to get there footing since arriving here. Tyleesha was recently laid off of her job and has been doing odd jobs to make ends meet while she works on her goal of starting her own business.

Ceelean has been staying at CARITAS Women's Emergency Shelter for the past three weeks. During this time she's been busy working two jobs and trying to move back into housing. One of her primary goals is to get a vehicle that will allow her to get between jobs more quickly as one of her jobs is contracted and often changes locations around Richmond. Ceelean is required to take an online driver education course before she's able to move forward with getting her driver's license. Your assistance will allow her to pay for and take this course and remove that barrier to reliable transportation.
