Since being released from incarceration, Kiara has been working hard in the rapid rehousing program at St. Joseph’s Villa to obtain stability for her and her family. She found housing and employment, and has focused nonstop on getting her family back on track. However, she was recently hospitalized for mental health, and was not able to work enough hours to afford back-to-school supplies for her son. Kiara could benefit from new clothing as well. She would be very appreciative for assistance with school supplies and clothing for her and her son.

John was recently approved for a housing voucher and has been able to connect with an apartment complex that will work with him with zero income. However, he is expected to pay the application and deposit fee in order to apply. Helping him financially with these fees will allow him to be able to maintain stable housing in the future.

Frank has come into shelter several times over the past year, and has recently been connected to a community resource to help end his homelessness. However, currently Frank does not have the funds to pay the out of pocket costs for a necessary breathing treatment. Frank has Medicaid, but it only covers a portion of the cost for the treatment.

Kyra is a young adult from the church hill community. She often participates in Peter Paul programming and is working hard to build a life for herself. She recently moved into a new place and has incurred several expenses as she settles in. Because of this it has been difficult for her to pay the renewal fees associated with her car insurance. She needs assistance to cover it so that she remains compliant as she adjusts to the bills of her new home.

This client is a survivor and single mother who just moved into her new place! We were able to assist her in furnishing and decorating her home with the help of CARITAS and Mercy Mall. She is working full-time while caring for her kids. The start of the school year has set her back on bills and she needs assistance paying her August electricity bill.

Cherry is a survivor and single mother. She moved here with her son while fleeing a violent relationship. She got help from a shelter relocating to her new home in Henrico, however, she does not have the funds to furnish the place. She has an appointment with a furniture bank but needs help paying the fees. With these fees paid, she will be able to furnish her entire apartment for herself and her son.

Kaiya is the single mother of a 6-year-old girl. After experiencing a period of homelessness, she found housing through Flagler Housing & Homeless Services at St. Joseph’s Villa. Kaiya is grateful to have a safe place where her daughter can grow up, and is doing her best to obtain the essentials needed to make it a home while maintaining her savings. Her first priority is to provide a bed for her daughter, and she would be thankful for any assistance.

Keon Lomax is a young adult who recently went from being employed full time to part-time within the last month. Keon has worked really hard over the years to successfully achieve one of his goals of serving in his community. Keon completed culinary school and has been excited to begin his career as a Nutrition Coordinator right away. During this tough transition phase Keon has experienced challenges with keeping up with repairs on his vehicle and decided to reach out for support. Having access to safe reliable transportation would assist Keon in continuing to be of service to his community.

Mike was unable to pay his DMV fees due to losing his employment, and has recently come to the CARITAS men's shelter seeking support. Mike is fully able and willing to work and save income, but is in need of transportation to support him in finding and maintaining employment. Supporting Sean with DMV fees would help Sean in overcoming his biggest barrier to stability – transportation.

He recently found a new job and is waiting to be put on the schedule, but needs non-slip shoes and black shirts/pants. Joseph is eager to get back to work so he can remain in his apartment. He would greatly appreciate assistance with work clothes.

Evelyn lives in a household of 6 people including a newborn. Her family experienced homelessness during her entire pregnancy, and she was approved for housing just before her baby boy was born. She had a smooth move-in and was even gifted a washing machine from her landlord. Evelyn would also benefit from receiving a dryer, so that she can wash and dry her four children’s clothes in a timely manner.

Trisha and Cedric are a young couple with a 3-year-old boy, and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new baby girl. Trisha is 8 months pregnant, and was fortunate to find housing just in time for her due date after her family had experienced homelessness. However, their new apartment is completely unfurnished. To help alleviate the added stress of affording new furniture and welcoming a baby, assistance with a crib would mean a great deal to Trisha and Cedric.
