Shelly (2/2) received help with her storage unit

Partner: Caritas

Advisor: Tori Purcell

Shelly came to CARITAS Women's Emergency Shelter two weeks ago. Since arriving, she's been working trying to catch up on past due bills and begin saving for housing. Through all of this, she's been unable to pay her storage unit and is at risk for losing her furniture. She plans to use this furniture when she leaves CARITAS and moves back into housing. Your assistance will allow her to pay her past due and current month's rent on her storage unit and continue working on her housing goals. All that remains to get her balance paid through July is the late fee she accrued when trying to catch up on bills.

Serena received assistance with purchasing a television

Partner: St. Joseph's Villa

Advisor: Drew Melson

Serena, a rapid rehousing participant with St. Joseph’s Villa, had some challenges maintaining her sobriety and stabilizing her mental health when she first entered the program. She was very forthcoming with her challenges and showed determination to address her addiction and mental illness. She got a part-time job and stayed committed to meeting with her Housing Case Manager to complete her search for housing. In June, for the first time in 14 years, she moved into her own apartment and was able to pay for most of her moving costs on her own. She has asked for assistance with purchasing a television to help make it a home and a therapeutic space, sharing that watching television is one of her coping skills to deter negative thoughts and activities.
