While here, she's been working on getting approved for an apartment and saving for her move in fees. However, Alina recently lost her job and while looking new employment, her storage unit bill is coming due. Your assistance will allow her to pay this bill and keep her belongings. If she's not able to pay it, she will lose the storage unit and her items will be put up for auction.

Leila has been staying at CARITAS Women's Emergency Shelter since the end of March. Soon after arriving here, her vehicle broke down, requiring $4,000 in repairs to get it back in working order. We were able to partner with another community agency to get the repairs down to $2,000 and get additional support from our agency and theirs to help towards her repairs. Your assistance will close the gap between the funds that we have raised and what is needed to be able to get her repairs completed and get her back on the road!

Leonard is a single dad raising two of our Peter Paul students. He has recently had open heart surgery and has been out of work. He is waiting for his disability income to come through and needs help paying his rent for this month in the meantime. Assistance with this will help to ensure that his two little girls will have stable housing while he recovers.

Ms Mandy is a grandmother and very devoted member of our senior program. She lives on a fixed retirement income and has fallen behind on her electricity bill after attending to some family emergencies. She needs assistance getting this back on track so that it will not continue to adversely affect her ability to pay her other bills.

Kelsey has been staying at CARITAS Women's Emergency Shelter for the past week and has been working on finding employment so that she can get back on her feet. Kelsey currently has a storage bill due, but she has no means to pay it. Your assistance will allow Kelsey to keep her belongings in storage while she works towards stability.

The Survivor, Ellis, is currently in a Residential Program, working on gaining independence and employment. Due to ongoing traumatic experiences that led to her entering the program, she has ongoing court fees. Due to the nature of the program and sudden notice of payment plan details, she may not be able to gain employment by the first payment date, May 29th. This barrier has been discouraging for the client over the past few weeks, and this assistance could give significant relief to her as she continues to secure employment.

Essence is an HCPS student whose family is in crisis. They've lost their car – and are about 2 months behind in rent and utilities. Her mom is trying to find a job near her apartment, so she can afford her family's basic needs, but it's not easy. And Essence's brother and grandfather need special care from her mom, due to their disabilities.

Maurice and his six year have been forced to move from their apartment and are currently staying in a hotel. Maurice works full time and has been approved for a new apartment but has been having trouble gathering the first month rent and deposit while maintaining the price of the nightly stay at the hotel. Help with this will prevent he and his son from having to stay in a shelter during the interim.

Addison has been at CARITAS for the past week. She is working a part time job and is seeking assistance with gas for transportation to and from work. She will begin working full time next month, but as she begins work she is struggling to keep up with bills and the cost of gas is becoming a concern for her. Your support will allow her a buffer to have gas for transportation for work while saving money from her first few paychecks.

Antonio is a resident of Richmond is currently seeking financial support to help with securing much needed repairs for his car. He receives monthly disability payments which allows him to pay his monthly bills such as rent and utilities. At this time, there’s a need for financial assistance to have his vehicle restored to proper working order. Having access to reliable transportation helps with keeping up with medical appointments and other responsibilities.

Joseph has been staying in our emergency shelter for under a month and has hit the ground running by securing employment at a local Richmond eatery where he will be making to go deliveries! In order to make these deliveries as speedy as possible Joseph is in need of a bike and lock to ensure he is providing fast and wonderful customer service!

Alyssa has been at CARITAS since February of this year. Since coming to shelter, Alyssa has been hired for a full time position and frequently uses her laptop to look for a second job. She also uses her laptop to keep up with her daughter's grades and homework, as well as to communicate with her daughter's school while they are not living together. Her laptop was damaged and needs repairs in order to get back in working order. Your support will allow her to get the repairs she needs and stay in vital communication with employers and her daughter's school.

Michael has been in shelter a week after being released from incarceration. Michael has no family supports and is looking for ways to get back on his feet. He has expressed a desire to be able to go out in the community for work and would greatly benefit from having a bicycle and a lock to be able to look for work. Obtaining a bicycle would also mean sustainability, in being able to maintain transportation to and from employment.

Dee is currently living in the emergency shelter program for survivors of domestic violence. Dee is working full time as a nurse. She is working on getting her own place as she was previously unable to afford a place and had to live out of her car. To continue working, Dee must renew her nurse license by the end of the month. With your support, Dee will be able to become recertified and continue working in her field and saving for her own place!

Kadeem is a new father with a sick infant that needs to go back and forth regularly to doctor appointments, the hospital, and his job. His car needs a repair and is no longer operable, he needs assistance getting his car repaired. The repair is over $800 he has some of what is needed but is looking to community supports to help raise the funds so that this setback won't continue to negatively impact his family's quality of life.

Leah is a Peter Paul neighbor and program participant who is working diligently to reach financial security. She has made alot of strides over the past few years and is currently transitioning between jobs. She is moving on to a position that is more suitable for her long term goals but the transition will cause a gap in her pay and make it difficult to keep her utilities bills current. She needs assistance to pay her past due utility bill from February so that she does not continue to fall behind during the transition.

Erica is a single mother and has been in recovery for over 3 years. She just recently gained full custody of her children and is working full time and reaching her goals. Unfortunately, her tax refund was recently apprehended because of past due child support payment. This along with the additional costs of child care has thrown her budget off this month. This assistance will keep her from falling behind on her bills.

Dana is a current participant in CARITAS Women's Emergency Shelter program and is focused on obtaining employment that will allow her to sustain her housing once she leaves shelter and move on. In order to do this, she wants to get her NCBTMB Certification in order to greatly increase her salary range and job opportunities. Dana has had this certification before, but it expired due to her inability to pay the fee. Your support will allow her to take the exam and become recertified. She feels confident that with this certification, she will be able to get and maintain housing that is realistic for her income.

Steve began to experience homelessness after having surgery on his back that he continues to receive physical and occupational therapy for to further his recovery. During his recovery Steve is in need of stable boots that will be able to support the multiple day and hour long therapy sessions. The boots provide enough support to both his ankles and feet to ensure he is taking steps to his long deserved recovery. Once he has recovered fully he plans to utilize these boots for work in the future!
